The Art Matters group is now in the final stages of preparing for their launch of The Island Project as part of the Art Is… Festival on Monday June 5 at 6pm in Jubilee Hall (19 Roberts Ave Horsham).
Local visual artist, Anthony Pelchen who is one of the artists supporting the project, said “the group has been hard at work since March transforming ordinary industrial pallets into personal islands that reflect their imagination and most prized ideas. It really is a transformation where the ordinary becomes extraordinary.”
Horsham Rural City Council’s Cultural Development Officer Jillian Pearce said that “Arts Access Victoria’s Rhian Hinkley will be joining the group during the Art is Festival to capture the islands via wheelie bins transformed into cameras. This is a very unique practice and we are fortunate to have him here teaching us, and look forward to seeing the photos that come out of it. No doubt, members of the public may see the group out and about with the bins during the Festival”.
If you would like to attend The Island launch (Monday 5 June at 6pm in Jubilee Hall – 19 Roberts Avenue Horsham) please RSVP to Michelle on 03 5382 9509 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The exhibition is also open daily Tuesday 6 June – Friday 9 June from 12-2pm at Jubilee Hall.
