The Victorian Government is creating a plan to strengthen and boost creative jobs, events and activities in regional Victoria and is seeking your feedback and ideas.
Regionally based artists, art lovers, creative practitioners, businesses and community members are invited to share their views on how the Victorian Government can play a role in strengthening the creative industries in regional and rural areas.
Following the release in 2016 of the Victorian Government’s Victoria-wide Creative State strategy, the regional plan will focus on the specific opportunities and challenges facing the creative industries in regional areas. It will set the direction for state government programs and initiatives in regional areas in the years ahead.
An online consultation process has been launched via the Creative Victoria website. The site asks contributors to consider the benefits that creativity brings to the region, the challenges the creative sector and individual artists and practitioners face, and to share your creative aspirations for the future.
Culture and creativity can deliver strong economic returns for cities and towns of all sizes while playing a key role in liveability and community strengthening. Across Victoria, the creative and cultural sectors generate more than $23 billion for the economy each year.
To share your ideas for supporting regional creativity, please visit the consultation site and submit your views by Wednesday 31 January 2018.
We are hoping to gather a range of perspectives, from creative practitioners, audience members, students and young people, tourism and business leaders, tertiary representatives and more so please forward this to your networks throughout the community.
